Technelec's synchronous reluctance machines have a simple steel rotor
with no windings or permanent magnets.  The stator carries a simple
three phase winding requiring only one slot per pole per phase.
Together this delivers an extremely cost effective machine.

The three phase inverter operates a sensorless vector control scheme to
control the synchronous reluctance machine as a motor and a generator.

The machine has a very simple construction as it does not require magnets. This, coupled with the extremely simple and robust controllers, are making the synchronous
reluctance machine the preferred choice for industrial, domestic and
automotive applications.
