 Hybrid Stepping Motors and Drives

Technelec Ltd design and manufacture hybrid stepping motor drives for a range of applications.

The TechStep230 range of bipolar stepping motor drives are capable of operation from 85 V ac to 230 V ac, delivering currents of up to 10 A to each phase of the hybrid stepping motor.  The TechStep230 range offer microstepping capability up to 50,000 steps per revolution delivering very smooth and quiet rotation.  The advanced current control technology in the TechStep230 delivers very quiet operation with minimal harmonic current distortion in the motor phase currents.

Technelec Ltd has also developed sensorless load angle control schemes for the hybrid stepping motor.  The scheme allows the load on the shaft of the stepping motor to be monitored during rotation so that the optimum current is applied to deliver the required performance without stalling or loosing synchronisation.  This technology offers cooler stepping motors and ensures that acceleration rates can be pushed to the limits close to pull out.
